Fun with the girls

Since yesterday was a holiday, a friend of mine and I took our girls (we each have two around the same age) to OMSI. We had such a good time letting the kiddos play and explore while we chatted. I rarely stay at those places long because I get bored very quickly but we were there for nearly 4 hours! Good fun.

A good movie

While the girls were having a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa W.'s house tonight, Bryan and I had our 'date'. We went to see Gran Torino and I highly recommend you go see it. Clint Eastwood was amazing as always and the story's message was a good one.....It's never too late to make a change in your life.

A good book

I'm currently reading "Three Weeks With My Brother" by Nicholas Sparks. I'm only 6 chapters in but I'm really enjoying it. It's a true story about the author and his older brother taking a 3 week trip around the world. What are you reading right now?

Sewing with the girls

Samantha decided that she wanted to learn how to sew. Since the girls had an extra week off from school (due to the snow), we found a easy-sew kit for pillowcases. The kit even included pre-cut fabrics!

The girls enjoyed ironing, pinning, and sewing the fabric. They said their favorite part was pressing on the little sewing machine pedal. We had so much fun that we went back to the fabric store and they each picked out fabric for dresses!

Snow! Snow! Snow!

More snow today. The girls had a lot of fun making "snow sisters" today. Very Cute!
Bryan almost got stuck in the snow coming home from Seattle...he couldn't quite get the car into the garage (he parked it at the bottom of the hill).
Just got the update that school is closed Thursday as well. Wow!

No school this week

3 days and counting! We're sticking close to home this week. And the forecast is for snow and freezing rain tomorrow. Yikes! We'll be wrapping Christmas gifts, delivering cakes to neighbors, and playing in the snow (of course!). I'm hoping we don't catch cabin fever before the week's out.

My good friend, Smartie Pants is heading to a warmer climate: Hawaii!!! Lucky duck. She's taking a well deserved vacation. If you're reading this from Oahu, have a cocktail for me, will ya? :-)

Christmastime downtown in a snowstorm

I took my girls downtown today in the snowstorm via the train. Our oldest went to a fancy "tea party" with a friend; our youngest and I went shopping at an especially cool toy store (lots of old fashioned style toys like jack-in-the-box, wooden toys, and toy tops. It was very, very cold and blustery outside but so much fun! There's nothing like a wintery outing with your kiddos to bring your Christmas-time spirit back.

Christmas Question

Yesterday I was in the car with my 7 year old. We drove by a beautifully decorated Christmas tree at a shopping center near our home. She pointed out how pretty it was and then thoughtfully asked, "But will the people who are jewish be upset that there isn't anything decorated for them?"

Wow. She is very sensitive, empathetic, and so aware.

How would you respond?
